Portfolio

My design work is inspired by traditional print design as well as the most contemporary approaches. Of course, I always attempt to design in such a way that supports what is being presented rather than let style trump substance. Stylistically speaking, I am strongly influenced by mid-20th-century typography as well as the fine typography seen 200 years ago.

Save the Pig Direct Mail Campaign

Save the Pig Direct Mail Campaign

Client: NotifyMD

Role: Designer (Creative Director: DJ Smith, Talstone Group)

When a physician office's phone is not being answered during the day, the practice is losing revenue. That's where NotifyMD comes in. When the creative director and copywriter were in a meeting with NotifyMD, they discovered that saving revenue was a big deal, perhaps the biggest selling point.

So the copywriter developed a sort of murder-mystery story about a piggy bank named Revenue that was murdered by an out-of-control phone.

When I recieved this assignment, I took the murder-mystery concept and ran with it, creating a film-noir look with moodily-lit custom photography and contrasty imagery, as well as rough hand-lettering that further captured the iconic feel of noir-style pulp novels and films, all while keeping it fresh and contemporary. (I'm very much into vintage book covers.)

The campaign consists of three different direct-mail drops that point to a website where recipients can sign up for a demonstration of NotifyMD's offerings and get free movie tickets after watching the demo.
